Exciting elections this year! I didn't expect the midterms to be so riveting, but I was wrong.

I'm so happy that the Democrats have re-taken the House; I just hope they don't screw it up. I'm kind of apprehensive about Nancy Pelosi becoming Speaker, but hopefully she'll be a good leader.

It's interesting to me that Donald Rumsfeld is stepping down; I'll be looking forward to seeing what kind of strategy we'll be pursuing in Iraq now. The new guy is a man named Robert Gates, who used  to be head of the CIA. Innnnteresting ...

In other election-related news, South Dakotans overturned the anti-choice legislation that the state legislators had voted in earlier this year. I'm really happy about that. In my opinion, a society's health is directly tied to its policies on women's reproductive rights. Of course, that's not the only thing that measures how healthy a society is, but it's definitely one of the measuring sticks.

What else ... Minnesota elected the US's first Muslim Congressman, Keith Ellison. I'm sure he will be closely scrutinized.

And can I just say that I really dislike our President? He's on the tv right now doing a news conference and he just drives my blood pressure through the roof. I have always said that I think of him as an 'evil trained monkey', and I stand by that assessment.

Okay, I realize that this post is not so hot, but give me time. I'll be working on my critique.
